Having joined Azimio la Umoja last weekend, albeit reluctantly, former vice president and Wiper party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has started rocking the boat from within.

According to Mr Musyoka, the Azimio la Umoja coalition should read “Azimio OKA Alliance” a suggestion which Mr Odinga’s campaign secretariat has swiftly disowned.

Prof. Makau Mutua, the chair of Raila Odinga’s National Campaign Strategy Committee said: what political parties agreed to at the NDC was to operate under one umbrella called Azmio la Umoja and at no time did they even suggest having constituent party slogans or names enshrined.

Mr Odinga currently on a visit to the UK, allegedly to “undo DP Ruto’s damage while there” is widely expected to name his running-mate soon, yet another matter of pure agony as outfits within the coalition battle the usual nomination bickering and expected fall-outs

But when Kalonzo hit the campaign trail together with KANU chairman Gideon Moi on Monday, he told voters in Tharaka Nithi to rally behind the Azmio la OKA (One Kenya Alliance). This is now threatening unity within the coalition and is likely to test further or fragment it when party primaries are conducted early next month in a flagship that brings together more than 30 parties.

According to sources at Orange house, Raila Odinga is said to have misgivings about this latest open revolt from Kalonzo Musyoka who for several weeks claimed he would be the “biggest fool” to back a Raila Odinga candidature for the third time.

Mr Raila Odinga is expected to deal firmly with the confusion and clarify the way forward in what is now Kenya’s biggest political formation, only parallel the original Forum for Restoration of Democracy (FORD) of 1992.

The then FORDS party scared former President Daniel Moi stiff, he only survived being kicked out of office by ensuring that the party split into three different entities.
