Several burning questions are already flying in the air as to why the Manifesto launched by Kenya’s rebel Deputy President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance is loudly silent on how it intends to put an end to rampant corruption cases that are still holding the country in a deadly stranglehold.

DP Ruto’s document was launched on Thursday last week at Kasarani Sports Complex; it came just a few days after Raila Odinga of Azimio Alliance launched his Manifesto with a promise that their foremost priority will be to deal with corruption incidents in Kenya. The manifesto by DP Ruto came in the wake where the Kenya Kwanza outfit was facing endless accusations of being home to individuals of questionable character in regards to corruption. Some of them are suspected to be deeply involved in incidents of mega corruption on projects that are currently ongoind across the country.

DP Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua’s bank accounts have since been frozen by the Anti-corruption courts, while the Deputy President’s unexplained wealth, accumulated over the last ten years has also been under the radar of investigative agencies.

The Deputy President’s main goal once his KK alliance clinches state power in August is to scrap the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and replace it with a universal fund covering pension, occupational hazards and unemployment insurance

There are major roadblocks to development projects across the country as the architects and executors of corruption demand bribes making it impossible to do business in the country. The result is that Kenya has been ranked among the top 100 corruption-riddled countries in the world.

But according to the Deputy President, his main goal once his KK alliance clinches state power in August is to scrap the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and replace it with a universal fund covering pension, occupational hazards and unemployment insurance. According to the KK manifesto, a “Fit for Purpose” universal social security system will be established as the NSSF payroll deduction system has failed.

“Women will also enjoy equal rights as men during land transactions, at least 50 per cent of the Cabinet will be made up of women, while appointive positions in the public sector will adhere to the two-thirds gender rule.” The statement on women was meant to counter Raila Odinga’s move which had earlier settled on seasoned politician Martha Karua from Central Kenya as his running mate in the 2022 battle for State House.
