Killers have double personalities, experts warn Kangogo will murder again if not arrested

By The Weekly Vision

Top medics, psychiatrists and counselling psychologists are warning that the run-away cop killer Caroline Kangogo probably suffers from a “split personality” with “borderline sadomasochists” and could kill again if not arrested in time.

Dr Peter Njenga, a top Kenyan psychiatrist has explained that “murder” is not always a simple ordinary happening that just erupts out of the blues saying “personality disorders” are at the heart of many homicides that have engulfed the country in recent times.

A counselling psychologist based at the Child Welfare Society of Kenya Mr Joseph Murume has also blamed personality disorders for growing homicide cases in society to which police is also part and parcel. He said, “killers” are almost always driven by resentment and bitterness that may have festered in their “sub-conscious” for a long time

Dr Njenga who is also the chairman of the National Task Force on Mental Health has called on the police administration to work closely with mental health experts on matters relating to behavioural trends of the men and women in uniform. Dr Njenga says growing cases of homicides blamed as “crimes of passion” are driven by split personality traits that escape the attention of many wondering how a young female police officer with a ‘great future ahead of her” would choose to throw away everything and kill two of her lovers in cold blood.

He said, “killers” are almost always driven by resentment and bitterness that may have festered in their “sub-conscious” for a long time.

He said when armed cops develop personality issues then public safety becomes a matter of urgent concern challenging top managers in the police force to invest more in the mental health of their personnel.

He said Kangogo who is suspected of killing two men, one in Nakuru and the other in Kiambu, is baffling when looked at the possible motive. Why did she kill the two men? Was it a crime of passion? Were they cheating on her?

Dr Njenga is urging parents to shed more light on the personality of Kangogo when she was growing up but repeated earlier media sentiments on the post-Covid- 19 aftermaths snowballing into depression driven homicides for the emotionally unbalanced. Kangogo’s first victim was Police Constable John Ogweno, who was found dead in his car at Kasarani Police Line in Nakuru.

Kangogo is believed to have fled with the deceased’s firearm, a Ceska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. Her second victim was a 32-year-old man who was identified as Peter Ndwiga, a resident of Juja.
