No reason was given for the suspension although there are increasing travel restrictions globally due to the upsurge of COVID-19 cases

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that Emirates Airlines has suspended flights from Uganda to Dubai. The authority suggested to passengers who planned to travel to Dubai contact their respective airlines for guidance on any changes in the restrictions.

The industry regulator made the confirmation in a tweet, noting that incoming Emirates flights from Dubai to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport are still operational. No reason was given for the suspension although there are increasing travel restrictions globally due to the upsurge of COVID-19 cases. Uganda’s Ministry of Health recently warned that the country was facing an increase of COVID-19 cases with more than 10 per cent of tested people turning positive.

Results of COVID-19 tests done on Dec. 26 confirmed 907 new cases, according to Ministry of Health figures. Uganda has recorded 135,998 cumulative COVID-19 confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country in March 2020.
