A huge storm is brewing in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance in Trans Nzoia County with officials and aspirants from the Amani National Congress ANC accusing their counterparts in Ford Kenya and UDA of isolating them.

The ANC team alleged they are not given equal treatment by their counterparts even though they are equal partners that are pursuing a similar political goal.

Cracks began emerging on May 8 after the Kenya Kwanza economic forum hosted by deputy president William Ruto at the Kitale Golf Club where ANC delegates were not captured in transport reimbursements. “We are disappointed with the fact that we are being treated as a lesser partner concerning the running of activities in the Kenya Kwanza Coalition in Trans Nzoia which undermines the alliance,” said the ANC county chairman Ronald Simiyu.

Mr Simiyu took issue with Ford Kenya officials accusing them of giving much attention to the UDA team while disregarding them, warning that the culture must come to an end lest they shift their political allegiance.

“We don’t want to be treated as automatic supporters just because we are in the same coalition yet we have a huge voting bloc. We will shift our allegiance to another camp if we keep being ignored,” – Mr Ambongo

The county’s ANC youth league leader Silphados Ambongo also challenged the coalition’s gubernatorial aspirant Dr Chris Wamalwa (Ford Kenya) to guarantee them a share of his government in the event he is elected governor. “We don’t want to be treated as automatic supporters just because we are in the same coalition yet we have a huge voting bloc. We will shift our allegiance to another camp if we keep being ignored,” said Mr Ambongo.

They also called on Ford Kenya and UDA officials to extend them the courtesy of having its senatorial aspirant Martin Bulimo Wakoli be the coalition’s flag bearer since they have let go of many seats.

“ANC has given up on many slots with a major focus being on only 15 MCA slots. I think it will not be too much to ask for me to fly the coalition’s flag for the position of senator aspirant in the spirit of mutual respect,” said Mr Bulimo. Reacting to the attacks on UDA and Ford Kenya, Trans Nzoia Ford Kenya youth leader Aggrey Nalianya told their ANC counterparts to remain calm instead of trying to rock the boat from within.

Speaking to The Weekly Vision Monday in Kitale, the Ford Kenya brigade said the attacks on other coalition partners in Trans Nzoia were aimed at fighting the candidature of Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial candidate Dr Chris Wamalwa.

“We are asking our coalition brothers and sisters in ANC not to rock this boat from within. Kenya Kwanza will not allow a few individuals to distract us from achieving our goal of not only winning but winning by landslide’’, he said. They told off Mr Simiyu and his group, accusing the ANC leadership in Trans Nzoia of betraying the political course of Kenya Kwanza Alliance. “ANC leadership in Trans Nzoia including their only MCA are openly supporting Azimio candidates for governor, Senate and Women representative. Its hogwash crying on top of their voices that they are being isolated’’, said Saboti youth leader Harison Wesa.

They termed the move of supporting Azimio candidates as a betrayal of the highest order and said those behind the dirty scheme are bound to fail. They asked ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi to reign in on his party officials whom they accused of ‘’ underrating Ford Kenya Secretary General Chris Wamalwa who is Kenya Kwanza’s governor aspirant for Trans Nzoia. “These ANC officials have decided to underrate Dr Chris Wamalwa. Our party respects other coalition partners and, regrettably, one of the coalition parties is going astray betraying the course’’, said Mr Wesa.
