I don’t know why the Azimio people are using all means to interfere with the August elections but we are prepared to face them head-on, even going for the Presidential debate has now become a big deal- Senator Moses Wetang’ula

Senator Moses Wetang’ula has asked IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to remain independent and execute his role in delivering credible a election slated for August 9th. Mr Wetang’ula faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta and his ‘project’ Raila Odinga for using state security agencies to intimidate the IEBC.

Mr Wetangula spoke on Monday during a Kenya Kwanza rally in Sinoko, Ndivisi ward of Webuye Constituency in Bungoma County. He also faulted Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga for skipping Tuesday’s Presidential debate adding that Raila has run out of ideas and has sensed defeat from the Kenya Kwanza team. “I don’t know why the Azimio people are using all means to interfere with the August elections but we are prepared to face them head-on, even going for the Presidential debate has now become a big deal, the way they are arguing it shows that they have no agenda to tell the Kenyan voter rather than lamenting,” Wetang’ula said.

Mr Wetang’ula asked residents to vote for Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka. Mr Lusaka was also endorsed by boda boda riders and the Bungoma town business operators, he is said to enjoy the support of over 35 MCAs in Bungoma County

The Ford Kenya leader called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to exit office in peace and leave the one who will win the elections to run the government. “Uhuru Kenyatta should emulate former President Mwai Kibaki, he left the country in peace as he retired,” he added. He assured Mr Chebukati that Kenya Kwanza will stand by him and won’t allow people to use state agencies to intimidate him saying that he is only carrying out his roles as per the constitution of Kenya and asking him to continue sharpening his election agents who will be in charge of the polls.

“I don’t see a reason as to why our opponents should accuse the chairman of the IEBC, he is only doing his job as per the constitution of Kenya, please let us not interfere with his job,” he added.

In Bungoma politics, Wetang’ula asked residents to vote for Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka. Mr Lusaka was also endorsed by boda boda riders and the Bungoma town business operators, he is said to enjoy the support of over 35 MCAs in Bungoma County.

Lusaka being Ruto’s point man in the Western region seems to have performed better because the county is a head of the Azimio la Umoja one coalition according to a recent opinion poll.

Senator Wetang’ula argues that Lusaka is the only option in Bungoma County adding that if given a chance again, he will take Bungoma to the next level. “When I was the governor here you remember Bungoma used to appear among the top best performing counties but currently is nowhere to be seen,” Lusaka said.
