Former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has responded to dirty propaganda being circulated in the county by his opponents, terming it ‘’Unverified news’’ sponsored by his political opponent worried about being floored in the August Polls. ‘’An edited video doing rounds on the social media alluding that the Boda Boda operators are confused is not true. Let my opponent look for something else to do ‘’, he said.
On Friday, the former Rift Valley County boss argued that his opponent was using the dirty propaganda after sensing he had lost ground. ‘’ When he will be through with the dirty and unfounded propaganda let us finally meet at the Peoples’ Court where results of the big contest will be finally released’’, he said.
There is no single day I have ever said that I will remove Boda Boda operators and any other businessman or woman from the Central Business District- George Natembeya
A social media blogger in the Kenya Kwanza gubernatorial campaign is said to have re-edited the video clip depicting the Azimio la Umoja candidate as a person who may not allow Boda- Boda operators to do their business in the town’s Central Business District. Natembeya said it was unacceptable for someone campaigning for the position of governor to go on misusing youths to do negative publicity on competitors.
‘’There is no single day I have ever said that I will remove Boda Boda operators and any other businessman or woman from the Central Business District. All their businesses are in town, you can’t remove them without giving them an alternative’’, he said. His objective, he said, is to facilitate the improvement of livelihoods of the people of Trans Nzoia County through efficient administration, equitable access, secure land tenure and sustainable management of land resources.
The former administrator further said he will upon election as the second governor prioritize coordination of urban development within the county through long-term strategies and development guidelines including statistics, urban design and planning. ‘’ It is foolish therefore for someone to wake up and start misleading the public that a person of my stature can move business people out of town’’, he added.
Mr Natembeya said he will also enhance the capacity of the County land office to make it adjudicate all land processes and settle land disputes amicably. He said he will promote investment through modern and constructive technologies in turning the 9 market centres in the county into urban centers.
