ODM Senatorial Candidate Musoke Muliro kicked up a storm when he asked residents of Trans Nzoia to vote out all leaders who represented the County at the Ward, Senate, National Assembly and those who were close to the outgoing governor for failing to deliver on their promises
The Sibling rivalry pitting the Orange Democratic Movement and the Democratic Action Party DAP-K played out in the open during a funeral in Saboti on Saturday. Former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya who is the Azimio- One Kenya Trans Nzoia gubernatorial candidate and his running mate Philomena Kapkori who were present called for unity among all Azimio member parties in the County.
The two were attending the burial of Mrs Topista Nakhumicha Webo in Saboti ward, Saboti Constituency in Trans Nzoia County. ODM Senatorial Candidate Musoke Muliro kicked up the storm when he asked residents of Trans Nzoia to vote out all leaders who represented the County at the Ward, Senate, National Assembly and those who were close to the outgoing governor for failing to deliver on their promises. Mr Musoke said the leaders did not have the interest of the people of Trans Nzoia at heart and that they should not be allowed anywhere near the County Assembly, Senate, National Assembly and County government offices.
‘’ I’m asking voters to sweep away all these people seeking to be elected to the offices of MCA, Senator, MP, and Governor. They are a big letdown and should be sent packing, wakwende huko’’, he said. Democratic Action Party Women representative candidate Phanice Khatundi tore into the ODM senate candidate’s utterances saying Trans Nzoia needs a stronger Senator to stop Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula from making his advances in Trans Nzoia. ‘’We don’t need a weakling for a Senator here in Trans Nzoia. We need one strong man, looking far like a giraffe, who will tell Wetangula that Trans Nzoia is not a sub-county of Bungoma’’, she said. She hit at him saying the County had lagged in development due to his interferences and blamed him for allegedly having dictated the employment and awarding of contracts to his political cronies.
Azimio –One Kenya Campaign Manager Moses Khaoya and his assistant Esther Olenje Koli who was also present told DAP-K to reciprocate ODM’s gesture of withdrawing from the gubernatorial race in support of George Natembeya and pull out of the senate race
‘’There is no son and daughter of this county who were employed in the outgoing governor’s government. Tenders were also awarded to people of Bungoma leaving us in poverty’’, she said. She said DAP K Senate Candidate Joshua Werunga will not step down for the ODM Candidate Musoke Muliro but will fairly compete to defeat Kenya Kwanza Candidates Henry Ole Ndiema and Allan Chesang.
Azimio –One Kenya Campaign Manager Moses Khaoya and his assistant Esther Olenje Koli who was also present told DAP K to reciprocate ODM’s gesture of withdrawing from the gubernatorial race in support of George Natembeya and pull out of the senate race. ‘’I was Moses Khaoya’s running mate for the Trans Nzoia governorship race and we stepped down when Baba ordered us to back off in favour of our brother George Natembeya. It is not fair for DAP-K to field a candidate at the Senatorial level’’, she said.
She also drummed up support for Azimio- One Kenya Presidential Candidate Raila Amollo Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua. She heaped praise on Mr Odinga for picking a woman as his running mate, saying the choice of Karua is a great boost to women of Kenya who have a long-sought footing in political leadership. Mr Natembeya, however, did not comment on the matter. He promised to address the medical, Agriculture and education challenges faced by locals if he forms the next county government.
It is a pity that Trans Nzoia County has serious health challenges where our people are losing lives from lack of poor medical prescriptions. ‘’The lady Topista whom we are burying today should not have died had there been in place a well-equipped referral and teaching hospital’’, he said.
He blamed Ford Kenya’s outgoing administration for failing to complete the Trans Nzoia County Teaching and referral hospital which he said would have saved the lives of many patients. The former administrator said a senior citizen had lost her life just because of the wrong use of insulin when a nurse gave her a double jab without going through a doctor’s prescription.
