Shock as Wife Stabs Husband to Death over Khs100 in Kitale

Police officers in Kitale have arrested a 29-year-old woman from the slums of Matisi suspected of stabbing her husband to death using a knife on Saturday.

The husband is alleged to have taken Ksh100 meant to purchase food, he used the money to buy cigarettes. The woman, Husain Yasmin Mwajuma attacked her husband Dominic Macheso by stabbing him in the chest at their rental house in Matisi at around 9 pm.

The Woman was however rescued by Nyumba Kumi official Paul Ngoya Barasa, also a resident of Matisi when residents who were baying for her blood wanted to lynch her. “I was coming from my house headed to Miti Mbili area on security matter. Coming just behind my house I saw a commotion and a huge crowd which was attacking and beating her up, he told The Weekly Vision.

Mr Barasa explained that when he intervened, he was told that the said woman had stabbed her husband and was being asked to take him to the hospital. “By then the husband had been taken to a nearby dispensary. I informed the OCS who advised us to detain her at Matisi police station and try our level best to take her husband to the hospital for treatment,” added Barasa.

The victim was rushed to Kitale county hospital for medication but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Trans Nzoia County police Commander Jecinta Wesonga told The Weekly Vision that the deceased had taken Ksh100 meant to buy food and instead bought cigarettes. “The woman became furious and rushed to the kitchen picked up a knife and tried to stab her child but the husband intervened to stop her only to be stabbed in the chest instead,” she explained. Mrs Wesonga appealed to Kenyans to find reasonable ways to solve domestic problems.

“I wish to call upon residents of Trans Nzoia not to take the law into their own hands. Seek alternative ways to solve domestic issues “, she said. The Police boss said the suspect is being held at Matisi police station awaiting to be charged for the offence of murder on Monday. The body of the deceased was moved to the hospital’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
