Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has endorsed Busia County’s ODM gubernatorial candidate Paul Otwoma for the seat in the August polls. Speaking at Bungoma Posta grounds on Friday during the Azimio political rally, Mr Odinga asked outgoing Busia governor Mr Sospeter Ojamong and Paul Otwoma to put aside their differences and work as a team.

Mr Odinga said that according to the recently conducted polls he is behind the Kenya Kwanza candidate in Bungoma County asking his supporters to intensify campaigns to ensure that he tops in the region. “Bungoma is the only county in the western region that I am behind in opinion polls. Please reject Ruto’s fake manifesto and back my statehouse bid. I assure you that I will deliver as President,” Mr Odinga said, he added that last Friday was the last time he was campaigning in Bungoma County, then hand over the mandate to Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati of the DAP-K party to ensure that Raila wins in the forthcoming polls.

Mr Odinga said that he is firmly behind governor Sospeter’s bid for the Teso South MP seat in the coming polls. In addition, Mr Odinga trashed Senator Wetang’ula’s sentiments when he said that Bungoma is the Kenya Kwanza stronghold adding that he has led in the region since he started contesting for the Presidency

“I could not end my campaigns without stepping here in Bungoma because this has been my stronghold since then and I know you are going to shift your concentration from Kenya Kwanza to the Azimio la Umoja,” Odinga added. However, Mr Odinga said that he is firmly behind governor Sospeter’s bid for the Teso South MP seat in the coming polls. In addition, Mr Odinga trashed Senator Wetang’ula’s sentiments when he said that Bungoma is the Kenya Kwanza stronghold adding that he has led in the region since he started contesting for the Presidency.

Mr Odinga also allowed Bungoma residents to ask questions about where they have not understood the Azimio la Umoja manifesto. “I don’t know why I was behind in the recent opinion polls in Bungoma. Please ask me questions about my manifesto and you will be answered,” Mr Odinga said. He asked the region to ensure that everyone who had registered as a voter eaches the polling centre to cast his/her vote.

“Use all means possible to ensure that voters reach the polling station to cast a vote in my Azimio la Umoja basket, even use wheelbarrows to transport the disabled one to ensure that they take part in their constitutional right,” Odinga said.

On his part, Ojaamong agreed to work with Mr Otwoma and other Azimio la Umoja candidates in Busia County to win the elections. Present at the rally were COTU boss Francis Atwoli, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Defense CS Eugene Wamalwa, Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, and DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi among other leaders.

Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati assured Odinga that he will use all means for Raila to become president of the county.
