President Kenyatta Met Luhya Elders, Pleaded With Them to Help Propel Mr Odinga to the Presidency

By the time the President arrived in Kakamega, the Azimio team on the ground had already marshalled elders from the region to meet him at the State Lodge on Tuesday evening before hitting the campaign trail

President Uhuru Kenyatta took his campaigns to Western Kenya, home to a massive number of voters who may up deciding who to succeed him as the 5th President between Azimio’s Raila Odinga and the Kenya Kwanza Presidential candidate William Ruto after next week’s general elections.

Emerging details from the ground reveals that after the President was through with the commissioning of development projects in Kisumu from where he had stayed overnight at the Kisumu State Lodge, he headed straight to Kakamega town. By the time he arrived in Kakamega, the Azimio team on the ground had already marshalled elders from the region to meet him at the State Lodge on Tuesday evening before hitting the campaign trail.

According to sources on the ground, Luhya elders who met the President on Tuesday evening were drawn from all the counties in western Kenya, which include Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia and Busia Counties. The main agenda at the meeting was to hammer out a winning strategy to help propel Azimio’s Raila Odinga to the Presidency by bagging a huge percentage of votes for him in the general elections.

“Some of the prominent elders from Luhyaland at the closed-door meeting, included the former Vice President Moody Awori, former cabinet ministers Phillip Masinde, Francis Yekoyada Masakhalia, Chris Okemo, Dr Noah Wekesa, Mukhisa Kituyi, Musikari Kombo, Christine Mango, Julia Ojiambo and others,” said our source.

The source said that virtually all sitting governors from the region, Senators, MPs, Cabinet Secretaries and other leaders associated with the Azimio One Kenya Alliance were also present at Kakamega State Lodge.

After the meeting in Kakamega President Kenyatta went on the onslaught in Bungoma County where he pleaded with the voters saying that it is only Raila Odinga who can save this country and that he should be voted in as the next President adding that if he were to lose, the country may go to the dogs.
