President Uhuru Kenyatta will be accompanied by Her Excellency First Lady Margaret Kenyatta when they jet into Kisumu County on Sunday, 30th May 2021 for a three-day working visit, according to a statement from the State House.
President Kenyatta will be joined by Mr Evariste Ndayishimiye, President of Burundi, who will arrive in Kisumu City on Monday, 31st May 2021 at the start of his two-day state visit. President Ndayishimiye will be accompanied by First Lady Angeline Ndayubaha
During the visit, the Head of State will lead Kenyans in marking Madaraka day celebrations, he will then officially open completed National Government projects, inspect ongoing initiatives and launch new projects. The President will be joined on the tour by several National and Regional leaders among them Opposition Leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o among others. The President’s itinerary, listing the various projects, will be shared with the media on a rolling basis.

President Kenyatta has appealed to all Kenyans to continue observing the Covid-19 containment measures, even as they observe the 59th Madaraka Day Celebrations.
The President particularly appeals “to the residents of Kisumu City to give the best account of themselves by avoiding situations that may compromise national efforts against the Covid-19 pandemic.”
