The deafening cacophony of blaring horns and wild screams by matatus touts in Nairobi’s CBD is now cause for major concern with shop owners, supermarkets, and staff in offices demanding the government move in and stop the noise.
The noise is completely unnecessary and irritating to residents who say the heavy noise pollution in Nairobi should be addressed by NEMA (National Environment Management Authority) and should be stopped immediately, shop owners and other stakeholders complain of matatus blocking entry to their shops while howling for passengers most of whom already know which vehicles to board.
