The body of a Kenyan fisherman allegedly shot dead by the Ugandan security people on Lake Victoria was retrieved from the lake after three days of searching.
Funyula constituency Member of Parliament, Hon.Oundo Mudenyo and his Budalang’i counterpart,Hon.Raphael Wanjala, strongly criticised the brutal handling of Kenyans on the lake by Ugandan security personnel, asking the Kenyan government to engage her Ugandan counterpart on the matter.

The young fisherman who hails from Budenge village in Sio-port division, Busia county, was among a team of fishermen on a fishing expedition on the lake, they are said to have been rounded up by the Ugandan security and held against their will for unexplained reasons.
It’s alleged that the young fisherman met his fate after a slight scuffle with the Ugandan police officers, he was allegedly shot twice. The body was later moved to Port Victoria sub-county hospital for autopsy, two gunshot wounds were visible according to close family members.
Enraged fishermen on the Kenyan side of the lake, at one point, tried engaging Ugandan police officers in a heated debate over the brutal force used in the handling of Kenyans. This irked the officers, even more, they arrested more Kenyan fishermen, the lucky ones were later released after parting way with ksh.2000 in bribes.
