Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has said that he is not seeking any top job in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government but fighting for his Luhya people should William Ruto win the presidency. Senator Wetang’ula expressed his satisfaction that the Kenya Kwanza team has done enough campaigns in all the 47 counties, he asked Kenyans to back Mr Ruto’s ambition of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.

H spoke at Kimwanga market in Bumula Constituency during a Kenya Kwanza rally. The Bungoma Senator pointed an accusing figure at ODM leader Raila Odinga and asked him to stop interfering with the August polls saying that IEBC is an independent body and it should be allowed to conduct a free and fair election. “The people that are making noise in every campaign trail are the ones who destroyed the past bodies that were in charge of the elections and now they have turned against Mr Chebukati, please leave the IEBC to do its role and deliver free and fair elections,” DP Ruto said. Wetang’ula said the Luhya nation will get thirty per cent from the Kenya Kwanza government.

“I am not seeking any top job in Ruto’s government but I am only fighting for my people’s interests because I saw that Raila Odinga cannot help us achieve what we want for our region, we supported him many times but after going into a handshake with President Kenyatta he run away with everything and that is how we parted ways with him,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula urged the Western region to firmly stand with IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati saying that the IEBC boss is a son of Luhyaland and that they won’t allow Raila Odinga to intimidate him.

Wetangula said that if Kenya Kwanza will be allowed to lead the country they will prioritize reviving the ailing Industries in the Western region saying that the fall of Mumias sugar, Nzoia Sugar and Malakisi ginnery was a great blow to the economy of the region

“I don’t know why the Raila team is making unnecessary noise about the preparedness of the IEBC, what I know is that the commission is prepared to supervise the August poll, the Azimio la Umoja team should stop complaining and meet us at the ballot,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula said that if Kenya Kwanza will be allowed to lead the country they will prioritize reviving the ailing Industries in the Western region saying that the fall of Mumias sugar, Nzoia Sugar and Malakisi ginnery was a great blow to the economy of the region. “When Ruto wins this election new and modern Industries will be installed in both Mumias and Nzoia so that Sugar farming can resume as usual,” he said. On County politics, Wetang’ula faulted the current administration of governor Wangamati for not sticking to its promises during the 2017 campaigns asking Bungoma electorates to reject him and re-elect Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka re- election.

He added that the work that was done by Lusaka when he was the governor cannot be compared to Wangamati saying that it’s only Lusaka who will save Bungoma. Lusaka pledged to return trade loans and support small business operators arguing that Wangamati removed them once he took over as the county boss. Lusaka said that if he clinches the governor’s position he will provide farmers with fertilizer.

Present at the rally was Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Bungoma woman MP Catherine Wambilianga, Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga among other Kenya Kwanza leaders. Bumula lawmaker Mwambu Mabonga said that it’s time for other communities to lead the country accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta of failing the country as head of state.
