The political landscape and reality in Busia County are that the people here have consistently voted for Raila Odinga as their Presidential candidate since 1997. At market centres and deep in the villages, voters are extremely excited at the prospects of a Raila Odinga presidency after the August 9th election.
The euphoria is real and it is for this reason that it will be unfortunate for any politician worth his salt to even imagine opposing this fundamental political wave and reality.

The MP for Nambale constituency Dr Sakwa Bunyasi’s decision to realign himself with UDA and Musalia Mudavadi, his party leader in Kenya Kwanza Alliance is a huge gamble that is likely to cost him dearly. Kenya Kwanza Alliance is a political outfit that is receiving massively low levels of attention from people on the ground, with some asking hard questions as to how Dr Bunyasi expects to win the governor seat on an ANC political party formation in Busia where the dominant party is ODM?

The best option for him is to reject Musalia’s political advances and decamp to Azimio la Umoja affiliate party since his current position is a dangerous highway to political oblivion

Dr Bunyasi is an economist of repute who has brilliantly exercised politics of development that is practically rare in the African setup. His current political behaviour has subjected him to a weird political scenario, contradicting political graphs and theories in the County.

Dr Bunyasi must be adamant and realise what is good for him, as Musalia Mudavadi’s endless pleas at him not to embarrass him like others MP from the area have done by flocking to DAP-K party, an outfit that has caused political jitters in western Kenya.

Dr Bunyasi could be staring into political oblivion, the best option for him is to reject Musalia’s political advances and decamp to an Azimio la Umoja affiliate party. His current position is a dangerous highway to political oblivion. If he remains rigidly stuck in his current political persuasions then his end time is near. To me, Dr Sakwa Bunyasi remains a good resource manager who should not mix politics. He needs to take a keen eye to realign himself accordingly. It’s interesting times even the academic giants are failing to read the political moods of the day.
