Governor Oparanya Meets Aspirants on ODM Party From Western Kenya

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader also Governor of Kakamega County, Wycliffe Oparanya yesterday convened a meeting where he invited all aspirants interested in vying for various political posts on the party ticket.

The meeting held at Bishop Stam in Kakamega County was planned to help chart the way forward on the party nomination formula and also avoid any fallouts from the orange party, a source at the meeting told The Weekly Vision Online. The meeting was attended by aspirants from Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega and Vihiga Counties.

ODM National Election Board Representative Madam Catherine Muma took aspirants through Party primary process, membership and possible election offences in the forthcoming ODM Party primaries in April.

The Deputy Party leader was last year quoted saying that all aspirants will have to face voters in the nominations if they want the party’s ticket. “When you have the people behind you, then you win the party’s nod. So, endear yourselves to the people. The people hold the power to anoint,’’ he said. He added that no contestant should expect favours from the party leadership.
