‘’We needed more resources to do development but unfortunately, members of my staff with bad motives teamed up with politicians to slow down progress through court orders‘’-Governor Patrick Khaemba
Trans Nzoia County Governor Patrick Khaemba has pointed fingers at some of his staff for colluding with some unnamed politicians to undermine his development agenda. Governor Khaemba, who was speaking at the Kitale Town hall which houses his office, threw a salvo at his staff, saying their actions had greatly hampered service delivery.
‘’We needed more resources to do development but unfortunately, members of my staff with bad motives teamed up with politicians to slow down progress through court orders ‘’, he said. He cited the modern bus park and the ultra-modern trading complex as some of the projects that faced stiff opposition through court injunctions.
We were headed to public participation on how slots at the modern trading centre would be distributed only for some crooks to obtain orders stopping the exercise’’, he said. He urged those behind the dirty schemes not to do so to the incoming administration which he promised to unconditionally support to build on where he would have left.
He dismissed those spreading propaganda that he was supporting any gubernatorial candidate to succeed him. ‘’I have not supported anyone and will not do so though I have a right to do so as any other Kenyan. I will however want to hand over power to a successor who will unite our people together’’, he said.
Governor Khaemba warned against divisive politics aimed at dividing the people of Trans Nzoia along political party affiliations. The county boss raised concerns about intensified engagement in politics by county staff.
‘’I’m told that some of you have openly engaged yourselves in politics. How will those you are supporting view you after winning elective seats? This must stop with effect from now or action be taken against yourselves’’, he said.
He said that the Trans Nzoia County Teaching and Referral hospital whose construction has been ongoing for the past nine years is set to open its doors to the general public before the expiry of his term. The multibillion hospital facility that has been used as a tool by politicians to fight me will be officially commissioned any time from now. Final touches are being done and it will be operationalised soon ‘’, he said.
He revealed that the facility had been installed with necessary equipment befitting the standards of a teaching and referral hospital. “The actual construction has been finalized with beds installed with modern equipment befitting a teaching and referral hospital. We will be opening the doors to the public in some days to come’’, he said.
