The man who was once a senior administrator in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government when he served as the Regional Commissioner Rift Valley Mr George Natembeya has taken the Trans Nzoia political landscape by storm. The former administrator is now the leading candidate for the gubernatorial seat against his opponents in the County. 

According to TIFA opinion polls released on Thursday this week, Mr Natembeya is leading with 56 per cent points over his closest rival Chris Wamalwa of Ford Kenya with a paltry 21 per cent point. The other contestant in the race Wilfred Muraya comes third with two per cent and other candidates with two per cent.

The Tifa pollster documents that the number of undecided possible voters stands at 19 per cent. They announced that Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga leads with 52 per cent, he is followed by Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto with 34 per cent. Roots party candidate George Wajackoyah trails with one per cent. The undecided voters stand at 13 per cent as the clock ticks closer to the polling date on August 9th to decide the country’s next leaders.

The battle for the Senatorial seat is between Henry Ndiema against Allan Chesang both tie at 24 per cent each in the Senatorial race. Joshua Werunga follows in the third position with seven per cent

According to the poll, Lilian Siyoi leads in popularity as a Women Representative for Trans Nzoia County with 22 per cent, followed by Susan Nakhumicha with 11 per cent. Others are Phanice Katundi who comes in the third position with eight per cent followed by Janet Wanyama with eight per cent, Eunice Karanja trails with four per cent and Susan Nelima with three per cent. The other candidates got a five per cent rating. The number of undecided voters was at the time of polling 40 per cent.

Mr Tom Wolf of Tifa said: The battle for the Senatorial seat is between Henry Ndiema against Allan Chesang both tie at 24 per cent each in the Senatorial race. Joshua Werunga follows in the third position with seven per cent, followed by Richard Chesebe with four per cent, Omari Wafula with two per cent, and Mr Cheptoo Morei tied with Michael Ndito at one per cent each. 

The number of undecided voters is 37 per cent.” “Azimio la Umoja is the leading coalition in the county with 44 per cent followed by Kenya Kwanza’s 34 per cent. The number of undecided voters stands at 22 per cent.” According to TIFA, UDA party enjoys the support with 24 per cent followed by ODM with 23 per cent.

The polls document that Democracy Action Party Kenya (DAP-K) was third with nine per cent, followed by Jubilee with three per cent. Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) ties with Ford-Kenya with two per cent followed by Amani National Congress (ANC) trailing at one per cent. The polling was conducted between June 28 and 29.
