The Democratic Action Party (DAP) will hold its first National Delegate Convention meeting today the 14th December 2021 at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi County where delegates drawn from all parts of the country are expected to attend. The Rt Honourable Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected to grace the event at Bomas of Kenya.

The rebranded Democratic Action Party (DAP) has taken to the Western Kenya voting block with a storm after eclipsing the Ford Kenya party which has been having leadership wrangles for the better part of this year.

Dr Eseli Simiyu and Wafula Wamunyinyi

The Kanduyi Constituency Member of Parliament Wafula Wamunyinyi and his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu and all former grassroots leaders will be attending the NDC at Bomas. This development is a big win for DAP which will witness the first big harvest as big political and experienced heavyweights in Western Kenya who once had a powerful position in Ford Kenya decamp.

DAP-K is most likely to replace the Ford Kenya party in Trans Nzoia County and Bungoma County as research shows that possibly the next governors of both Trans Nzoia and Bungoma Counties will be from this new-born party.

Barely a week ago, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, a senior Luhya elder was heard in a clip that went viral on social media saying that 2022 is the end of the Ford Kenya party and Luhyas must start thinking about another new political party something which majority of people believes that Mr Atwoli favours DAP-K. The much-hyped NDC will hit the last nail on the coffin of the Ford Kenya party as we approach the 2022 General elections. Mr Wamunyinyi and Eseli who both represent the largest constituencies in the larger Bungoma county have vowed to teach their political nemesis Moses Wetang’ula a political lesson come next year.

The duo announced their departure from the Simba party after the registrar of political parties okayed the list of new officials elected during the controversial NDC held at the Bomas of Kenya despite a court order which barred Senator Wetang’ula and his group from ” going ahead to hold the NDC.

Political pundits have said that the duo who have teamed up with COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, former UNITACT Secretary-General Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Trans Nzoia senator Dr Michael Mbito, County speaker Joshua Werunga and former powerful Forest and wildlife minister Dr Noah Wekesa has already eclipsed the Wetang’ula brigade.

Rift Valley regional coordinator George Natembeya and Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati are expected to fly the DAP K flags during next year’s general elections. Already the ground in Trans Nzoia has tilted towards the no-nonsense administrator whose popularity has skyrocketed above the Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa and Kakai Bisau, a special secretary in charge of ICT and infrastructure at the office of Deputy President Dr William Ruto.

Mr Natembeya tore into Bisau and Dr Wamalwa recently accusing them of lacking agenda and aimlessly roaming in funerals. ” Of what importance is the office you are serving into the people of Trans Nzoia?”, Natembeya said in reference to Bisau who had just addressed the mourners. The Kiminini legislator skipped the burial fearing reprisal from residents who have for the last few weeks jeered at him.
