A career teacher, and seasoned politician Justina Sitti who is an aunt to the CS, spoke in tears saying it was very wrong for a person of Ruto’s stature to hurl insults against Eugene Wamalwa who has all the qualities of a man the same way Ruto has
Former Cabinet Minister Dr Noah Wekesa has launched a scathing attack against Deputy President William Ruto following his verbal abuse of Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
Speaking in Kitale on Wednesday during a meeting called by eminent persons from various communities, Wekesa said it was unfortunate for the second in command to abuse the CS in his backyard. “We should be very careful about what we say so that we don’t annoy people living in cosmopolitan places such as Trans Nzoia. We must stop using abusive talk if we have Presidential aspirations’’, he said about the Deputy President whose tongue has become loose.
Dr Wekesa said none of the Presidents that ruled Kenya ever developed a habit of looking down on other leaders the way DP Ruto was doing. ‘’Former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi and his Vice President were during their days as Vice Presidents humiliated and called all sorts of names and never reacted the way Ruto is doing. They became Presidents unlike Ruto who will not’’, he said.
‘’Ruto’s demeaning remarks should be withdrawn and an apology rendered to CS Eugene Wamalwa and the people of Trans Nzoia who were offended by Ruto’s careless remarks’’,- Christopher Makokha, Trans Nzoia County Peace Committee Chairman
According to Dr Wekesa, the DP’s actions were fueled by his frustrations after realizing that Eugene’s popularity growing against his “If you want to be a leader of this country, how do you attack other public servants like Eugene Wamalwa who is also aspiring to be President in 2027? You attack our son calling him a woman in his backyard?” Dr Wekesa added.
Dr Wekesa reminded the DP that he was in for a rude shock since the same Eugene he was abusing will be on the Presidential ballot after the tenure of Azimio- one Kenya leader Raila Odinga comes to an end. ”Eugene Wamalwa will be battling out with you Ruto in 2027 after Raila Odinga retires and even if Raila goes for ten years you will not defeat Eugene”, he said. DP Ruto hit out at Wamalwa on Tuesday, labelling him “a Woman’’.
” In the community, where I come from, we don’t slap a woman, tell him that it is me who helped him get appointed to the position of a Cabinet Secretary in the Jubilee administration’’, an angry Ruto said. The DP spoke during a campaign meeting in Kitalale, in Saboti Constituency in Trans Nzoia County Tuesday. A team of eminent persons drawn from various communities living in Trans Nzoia echoed Dr Wekesa’s sentiments and told Ruto to tender an apology to the CS and the people of Trans Nzoia.
‘’Ruto’s demeaning remarks should be withdrawn and an apology rendered to CS Eugene Wamalwa and the people of Trans Nzoia who were offended by Ruto’s careless remarks’’, said Christopher Makokha, the Trans Nzoia County Peace Committee Chairman. Makokha, who is also the Bukusu Council of elders’ chairperson, said Ruto who has been confessing Christianity failed the same God he claims to be following by equating his fellow man to a woman.
You cannot claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ the way the Deputy President is doing and at the same time lack respect for the same Biblical tenets. This is pure hypocrisy and you must apologize or we leave it to the God of vengeance’’, he said. A career teacher, and seasoned politician Justina Sitti who is an aunt to the CS, spoke in tears saying it was very wrong for a person of Ruto’s stature to hurl insults against Eugene Wamalwa who has all the qualities of a man the same way Ruto has.
‘’What interest do you have in your fellow man? Eugene is a man like you, stop your outbursts and take your frustrations elsewhere ‘’, she said. Mama Sitti said Eugene was not a woman as alleged by Ruto. David Kabuya who represented the Kikuyu Council of Elders chairperson asked Ruto to desist from making such careless remarks in his campaign trails. “I am joining other elders in condemning what Ruto said about Eugene, such reckless and demeaning remarks should not have come from a person of stature like that of a Deputy President. How do you mention such words in the presence of children and young girls?” Kabuya asked.
Mzee Pius Arap Kauka, former Kitale Municipality deputy Mayor said Ruto should be compelled to withdraw the remarks and apologize within twenty-four hours or risk losing his Trans Nzoia votes. “His remarks have caused a lot of discomfort amongst the communities living in this cosmopolitan county. He should therefore retract his remarks if he needs the votes of the people of Trans Nzoia” Kauka said.
