”This prophecy will become a reality as the Unity of the Luhya, Luo and other like-minded Kenyans get achieved through coalition making”-Dr Noah Wekesa

By David Musundi in Kitale

Former minister Dr Noah Wekesa says Raila Odinga’s fifth debut into the Presidential race is a prophetic fulfillment of the legendary Dini ya Musambwa leader Elijah Masinde Wanameme who ‘prophesied that the Luhya leadership will come from the lake’, he was speaking at an event on Saturday, in Kiminini.

”Masinde made the prophecy at a time when Jaramogi, Masinde Muliro and Wamalwa Kijana among others were fighting for the 2nd liberation after the colonial government had left the country. The Luhya must now support Raila Odinga to make the dream come true”, he said.

Dr Wekesa now says the prophecy means that after the reign of Raila Odinga, power will be handed over to a Luhya leader. He adds that it will be suicidal to break a covenant between the Luhya and Luo communities by their two leaders, Mzee Jaramogi and Masinde Muliro in the presence of Prophet Elijah Masinde wa Nameme. Mr Wekesa said amid ululations from mourners who had attended the burial of businessman Ken Muyundo. ” This prophecy will become a reality as the Unity of the Luhya, Luo and other like-minded Kenyans get achieved through coalition making”.

“The OKA leaders have an intention of ensuring the Luhya community is not part of the government after the 2022 general elections owing to their insistence that they want to go on their own,” – CS Eugene Wamalwa

” Raila Odinga took over as the successor of his father. I’m a firm believer in this prophecy and I’m asking you to support him since, after him, a Luhya leader will follow as foreseen by Prophet Elijah Masinde. I can see this coming into reality after Raila finishes his term in office.

Dr Noah Wekesa said the community should back Odinga’s presidential bid saying, if elected, he will be at the helm of the presidency for only five years upon which the community will have a better chance at the presidency. “We are soon going to launch the Democratic Alliance Party which will be a political vehicle that we seek to take over the politics of this region by storm. This will signal a change in the political landscape,” said Dr Wekesa.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa who is leaning towards the ODM leader took a swipe at the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula for planning to politically auction the Luhya community ahead of the 2022 general elections. CS Wamalwa said a failure by the leaders to decide on which political side to join between that of ODM’s Raila Odinga and that of the deputy president William Ruto is a clear indicator of political brokerage.

“The OKA leaders have an intention of ensuring the Luhya community is not part of the government after the 2022 general elections owing to their insistence that they want to go on their own,”. The CS who has been in ODM leader Raila Odinga’s bandwagon advised the community to be wise while making their choices in the 2022 general elections saying they risk losing out if they “blindly follow” the leaders. “I also have a presidential ambition but I have shelved it since I know politics is all about having the right calculations that will safeguard the interests of the people you represent. The writing is on the wall for all to see,” said Mr Wamalwa.

The sentiments by both Dr Wekesa and CS Wamalwa rubbed up the wrong way other politicians allied to Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula. Kwanza Member of Parliament Ferdinand Wanyonyi said the Luhya community was solidly behind ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula and other OKA leaders. ” Musalia, Wetangula, Kalonzo, Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo do not embarrass us this time around. Settle on one candidate and see how you will make it to the statehouse”, said Wanyonyi who is also Trans Nzoia Ford Kenya chairman.

Rift Valley regional coordinator George Natembeya who is pro handshake will be battling out with Kiminini MP Dr Chris Wamalwa of OKA for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat.
