A Troubled Afya Sacco Board Plans ADC In April 2022

Mr Ndoi’s inner circle of top managers, especially the banking and operations manager Maurice Mutuku and the Public Relations Chief Alfred Munyao are both likely to be sacked by the board before the ADC takes place in April

Trouble is brewing at Afya Savings and Credit Cooperative Society ahead of the Sacco’s Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) in April. The issues at Afya have already claimed former CEO Felix Ndoi his job. Mr Ndoi was reportedly sacked by the Board last November; he has since decided to consecrate his energies at capturing a parliamentary seat in his County of Kitui.

Mr Ndoi’s inner circle of top managers, especially the banking and operations manager Maurice Mutuku and the Public Relations Chief Alfred Munyao may face the same fate before the ADC takes place in April. Impeccable sources within the Sacco revealed to The Weekly Vision Online that delegates from the country’s 47 counties where the Sacco has a presence are up in arms against the management style of their former CEO Mr Ndoi whom they accuse of having presided over the degeneration of their annual dividends ever since he took over as CEO

The former CEO allegedly used millions of shillings to grease the alms of top government officials to cover up the rot at the Sacco. The beneficiaries include a former Commissioner of Cooperatives, Director Cooperatives Nairobi County and the Cooperative Movement Regulatory Authority SASRA’s top brass

Some members claim they have heard reports alleging that massive fraud had taken place targeting their hard-earned money that runs into billions of shillings in accumulated monthly savings and assets. At the end of last year, the society issued the lowest dividends of less than Khs. 6 per share to members, the lowest since the inception of the Sacco, and the situation continues to get worse each year as the inner-circle at Afya Sacco continue to enrich themselves

One of the main issues expected to emerge at this year’s ADC is how the former CEO allegedly used millions of shillings to grease the alms of top government officials to cover up the rot at the Sacco. The beneficiaries include a former Commissioner of Cooperatives, Director Cooperatives Nairobi County and the Cooperative Movement Regulatory Authority SASRA’s top brass.

A long-standing delegate said, “The story does not stop there because we also want to know how much of members’ money has been lost in fraudulent land deals where the top managers are lining their pockets.”

“Sources say the new Central Management Committee (CMC) management team led by chair Beatrice Mogire we are determined to bring sanity back to Afya Sacco by cleaning the bad potatoes from the top management,” he added.
